The redevelopment of Birmingham New Street station took a major step forward over the Christmas break as engineers successfully completed several large projects in and around the station.

Network Rail today published research into the economic value of investment in railway stations and confirmed that projects such as Birmingham New Street can have a major impact in stimulating development and increasing economic activity.
Transforming Birmingham New Street
The Gateway project will transform Birmingham's New Street station to create a stunning 21st century transport hub for Birmingham and the West Midlands.
The project will also bring major economic benefits, helping economic growth by creating new jobs and stimulating regeneration.
